- Compression Test
- Purpose: Determines the load-bearing capacity of bricks.
- Procedure:
- Place the brick between two plates of a compression testing machine.
- Apply the load gradually until the brick fails.
- Acceptance Criteria: Minimum compressive strength should be 3.5 N/mm².
- Water Absorption Test
- Purpose: Ensures bricks do not absorb excessive moisture.
- Procedure:
- Dry the brick and weigh it.
- Submerge the brick in water for 24 hours.
- Weigh the brick again.
- Acceptance Criteria: Absorption should not exceed 20%.
- Soundness Test
- Purpose: Checks for internal defects.
- Procedure: Strike two bricks together; a ringing metallic sound indicates good quality.
- Shape and Size Test
- Purpose: Ensures dimensional accuracy.
- Procedure: Visually inspect bricks for uniformity and straight edges.
